WWJ is Hiring 4 Community Health Workers to start immediately

Warehouse Workers for Justice is seeking Worker Protection Community Health Workers to conduct in-person outreach to warehouse workers in Will and Kankakee Counties about COVID-19 safety and vaccination. This is a temporary full-time position starting immediately until October 31, 2021. WWJ is a worker center organizing warehouse workers to build power and create stable, family-supporting jobs in the warehousing and distribution industry. We support workers in organizing around workplace issues and accessing legal help when their rights have been violated. 

Community Health Workers will perform the following job duties:
  • Conduct in-person outreach to warehouse workers in Will and Kankakee Counties in order to distribute PPE (masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer), provide information about vaccine access, and connect workers to trustworthy sources of information about vaccine safety. Medical background or qualifications are NOT necessary.
  • Assist workers with transportation to vaccination sites
  • Engage workers in conversations about their concerns regarding COVID-19 safety
  • Speak at press conferences and other online meetings as necessary to advocate for workers to receive priority vaccine access and outreach
  • Be an advocate for vaccination to workers and communities
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation and records of conversations with workers, assistance provided, resources distributed, and notes for follow-up
  • Intensive in person worker outreach
  • Assisting in following up with contacts from our online to offline pandemic health and safety organizing program
  • Connect workers to other organizations that can provide services and resources that they need during COVID-19

Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and access to a car for the duration of the program
  • Full-time availability beginning 3/15/2021 or earlier
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as necessary, up to 40 hours/week in total


Compensation
  • $20/hour. All training is paid. 
  • Health insurance fully paid by Warehouse Workers for Justice
  • Phone and internet stipend of $90/month
  • Gas/mileage reimbursement
  • Car stipend of $400/month
  • Laptop computers will be provided
