Tenant Rights
- A landlord can never just put you out, change the locks, or turn off utilities. Only a Sheriff can, and only after the full Eviction Court process has finished.
- A landlord must give you a written notice to start the Eviction Court process, they can never do so verbally.
- Rental Assistance and free Legal Aid is still available for many Illinoisans!
